The Sounds of Brazil
December 21 at 7:00 pm
Doors: 6:30 pm
Admission: $20

Join us for a cozy embrace of the Winter Solstice with BOREAL, a musical journey through the vibrant rhythms and melodies of Brazil.

Featuring Mariana Barcellos on lead vocals and percussion, and Gil Oliveira on drums—both originally from Brazil—BOREAL also includes Timothy Hill on guitar, Steve Gorn on bamboo flutes, and Gabriel Dresdale on cello.

As the longest night of the year unfolds, let us gather in warmth and friendship to enjoy the soothing sounds of Bossa Nova, transporting us to a tropical paradise. With each note, we celebrate light, music, and the joy of community.

Meet the Artists:

  • Mariana Barcellos is a Brazilian singer-songwriter who began her musical journey with Bossa Nova in Rio de Janeiro more than ten years ago. After relocating to New York, she performed regularly in Manhattan before settling in Woodstock, where she collaborates with talented musicians to share Brazil’s rich musical heritage.
  • Timothy Hill is a versatile singer, guitarist, pianist, and composer with over 40 recordings spanning a range of genres, from folk to jazz. His broad musical expertise enriches the ensemble’s sound.
  • Gil Oliveira, a celebrated drummer and percussionist from Rio de Janeiro, has played with some of Brazil’s most iconic artists and has been a prominent figure in the Brazilian Carnival for over a decade.
  • Steve Gorn is a master of the bamboo flute, blending Indian and Brazilian musical traditions. He has worked with artists such as Paul Simon and Glen Velez and contributed to Grammy-winning projects.
  • Gabriel Dresdale is a multi-instrumentalist and music educator specializing in cello, with expertise in classical, jazz, folk, and rock genres. His diverse experience adds a unique layer to the ensemble’s sound.
