Have you wondered what gives bluegrass singing its sound?  Or how roots harmony differs from pop harmony?  In this one-shot workshop, you will learn songs from the Americana umbrella – bluegrass/country/folk etc.  The focus will be singing!  In harmony!  You will also learn a bit about the music’s history and style along with general tips on how harmony works.   Fun for all levels!

Phyllis Elkind is a singer, guitarist and teacher.  She performs in The Sentimentals, a bluegrass trio, and in Bill & Phyl, a duo.  She is a harmony teacher at the Jalopy School of Music in Brooklyn and taught Doo Wop singing for many years at the McBurney YMCA.  In the Hudson Valley, she has led harmony workshops for Hudson Valley Bluegrass Association and for Nicole Ball’s Old-Timey Song Swap in Kingston.

Contact Phyllis at pe548@outlook.com .  Those who say they are interested will be sent videos of the songs ahead of time.
